Abstract
The thesis is built on the foundation of the long essay written on television and children Having carried out the research with a specific set of hypotheses and having come up with interesting findings, I decided to center my attention on hypothesis four which states that parents do not monitor and regulate what their children watch. The outcome obtained from this particular hypothesis shows that 52% of parents monitor their child while watching television, while 48% does not. The difference in the responses is only by a margin of 4 %. This means that the greater percentage of parents supervise their children as they watch television and also dictate the kind of programs to be watched, while a considerable number of parents do not. The thesis is therefore set on creating awareness on the need for parents to monitor what their children watch on television as well as their responsibility in the choice of programs for their children. The main focus of the final project is to provide a way forward for the problem statement. I will attempt to discuss the need for parents to understand exactly what nature of media content their children are exposed to, sensitizing them to make good choices.
