Nairobi County, Kenya.(Tangaza University College, 2018) Gitonga, Sr.Sr. Juliet WairimuSpeaking of Salesian Preventive method of education and evangelization, there are two important persons. St. John Bosco and St. Maria Mazzarello both Italian saints who in the 19th century were called by God to a life dedicated to saving the young people especially the poorest. This is a spiritual rallying point for many individuals and groups who share a common educative pastoral approach, Don Bosco’s Preventive Method of education and evangelization. It is the source and inspiration for a specific and original way of living and giving effect to the Salesian Mission – Salesian Youth Ministry. To meet the needs of the young and the common people of his time, Don Bosco founded two Congregations; Salesians of Don Bosco (Salesian Fathers or SDBs) they are 15,765 in the world , Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters or FMAs) they are 14,655 in the world and a lay association called the Salesian Co-operators they are 26,293 in the world. These believers continue to carry on Don Bosco and Maria Mazzarello’s mission for the young. God consecrates, unites and sends them out to be in the Church signs and bearers of the love of God for the young, especially the poorest. Although the Salesian mission started with Don Bosco and Maria Mazzarello and their experience at Valdocco and Mornese in Italy, it now knows no boundaries.
