Item Tangaza Update(Sports Tournament)(Tangaza University College, 2008) Tangaza University CollegeOh my ..... the beginning of the major work has already begun at last, 1 said to myself when I entered the TANSA. office (2F3 in lmani house) during the week of orientation on seeing two letters waiting for the sports coordinator. Truly, truly, it was the beginning of big things to come. So, the time of the inter communities football tournament and the inter-institutes athletics showed their heads ... they were to begin on the 8th of September and the l] th of September respectively. Though the inter-institutes athletics was to take place after the beginning of the inter communities football tournament my errnrgy was being consumed • by inter institutes athletics since it was the first of its kind in Tangaza and you may or not agree with me but the birth of anything is not that easy, of which this was no exception. Almost everything was new. The 0-day for the athletics arrived and a new tradition was given birth to in the history of Tangaza.Item Tangaza Update (2007 Tangaza day)(Tangaza University College, 2007) Tangaza University CollegeIt was a remarkable day! The chairman of the board (Fr. Pius) took us down the memory lane since 1986 when the first group of 20 students was admitted. How far we have come! [n- One of the graduants, Fr. E. Likoko SPS deed, the Principal remarked that Fr. Pius was a moving encyclopedia of the various Tan- gaza milestones. It was also a day to relvard thc ci- forts our brothers and sisters in The- ology for what they have done in the last four years. Indeed the message of the communication, fitted well with their graduation. After gaining a lot of knowledge from Tangaza, they now have to go out and present a new face in the world, help in bringing the change that is needed. Some are already ordained priests. Congratulations to the graduating class of 2007. The Principal Fr. Tim Redmond talked fondly about his experience as the principal ofthe college. He praised the good interaction that is there between the students providing a naturally welcoming environ- ment. He also thanled the Tangaza workers for the good job to maintain and repair especially the college. Prof. Everett Standa, the Chief guest at the event praised Tangaza and challenged it to work towards becoming a university. The Tangaza Band provided a memorable entertainment at the event,Item Tangaza Update(A Word of Farewell)(Tangaza University College, 2008-12) Tangaza University CollegeOnce again we come to Advent, a time to start afresh. For me this year there is an additional dimension as I prepare to leave the college after eleven and a half years. I arrived in August I 997, having previously spent 2 years working in the parish of "Immaculate" in Kitale. I am grateful for my long experience in Tangaza from which I hope I have learned a lot. We often hear it said, and indeed I think it is true, that "Tangaza is unique." One of several things which makes Tangaza special is the central importance of a ministerial dimension in all our courses. I earnestly hope that this will never be forgotten. Ministry means service and the Tangaza community reaches out to give service in many ways. I think it is also important to recognise that many people over the years have given immense service to the college. The college has depended on the generosity of many people who one way or another give "a little bit extra." The little bit extra is of time, of talents, of skills, of energy, of dedication, of knowledge. This applies to religious and lay people, administration, supportive staff and teaching staff. This is a tradition which we here now have inherited and I believe it is one we must nurture and pass on. I am happy as I finish my term in the College to see that it is thriving and enthusiastically embracing new challenges and new opportunities in the future. As well as a commitment to service, we need to preserve our tradition of academic excellence and integrity. We owe it to our forebears in the College and we owe it to those who will come after us. I hope that the new liturgical year, beginning with the season of Advent will be a time of blessings and thanks giving for all members of the college and for their families and friends. Let our celebration of the Incarnation increase our commitment to the task which our college motto gives us: Tangaza fumbo la imani. Fr. Tim Redmond, SPS.Item Tangaza Update(Orientation Program)(Tangaza University College, 2008-08) Tangaza University CollegeThe day is Monday 11th of August 2008, as early as 7 am the college starts aspiring into life. First year students during orienta- tion at the main hall. An hour later, it is already a full-blown beehive of activities. During the first day of orientation the 1st years begun their long journey in Tangaza college. It was a moment of emptying the expectations, excitement and affirming the positive and the negative understanding of Tangaza. The day began with introduction to institutes and Departments of the college and the general knowledge of the Campus. It was evident that the organizers took time to put everything in place. On behalf of my fellow first years I would like to thank the facilitators of their well done work positive attitude of the directors and staff who were involved and the old students for waiting patiently for those who arrived late. The availability of various faculty heads who waited for the new students in their departments was very much encouraging. Last but not least the video which was running through out displaying various institutes and activities in the college was a great ideaItem Tangaza Update(Best Wishes)(Tangaza University College, 2007-04) Tangaza University CollegeIt is the end of another semester, the academic year 2006/2007. What have you achieved in this semester? What miles hove you marked? I do not mean to antago nize you but only to draw you into a reflection on what you have achieved in this semester. At the end of another academic year I want to ex press my thanks to all those who have contributed to the smooth running of Tangaza College. The Statutes of the College state that the chief duty of the Principal is "to main tain unity and harmony of purpose and pleasant working conditions for all members of the teaching administrative and supportive staff and to promote the good of the stu dents." (4.3.2) To do this would be an impossible job for one person, but as I have the privilege of working with all members of the Tangaza community, it becomes a realistic aim.
