    The Joint Declaration on The Doctrine Of Justification And Its Pastoral Relevance in Africa With A Special Reference to the Context of The Democratic Republic of Congo

    A retrospective reflection in the history of the Church testifies to decades of divisions and conflicts, the causes of this conflict are diverse. Among them, the reformation doctrine of justification. Understood and defined in different theological languages, this doctrine led to mutual condemnations on both sides; the Roman Catholic Church on one side and the Lutheran Church on the other. In recent years, the two communions have shown a great desire for unity through ecumenical dialogues intending to sort out differences and to overcome the mutual condemnations. It is in this context that the Joint Declaration on Justification is to be located besides many previous writings. We really felt concerned and challenged by the call of the signatories who stated "We recommend these texts for careftil study in seminaries and in parishes, and we encourage a thorough reading of them by individual Christians. We request that common and deepening ecumenical reflection be continued on the biblical message of justification and its meaning for the churches, for the life of individual persons, and for human society." Our interest in this theme is an attempt to contribute to the call of the signatories of this declaration. Following a retrospective and analytical method, our essay is made up of three different chapters. Each one of them deals with a specific problem but in view of one objective. Hence, the first chapter, a bit longer than the two others, is an investigation on the biblico-historical background of the topic.

    "Taste and See That the Lord Is Good" Ps 34:8 An Exegesis of Psalm 34 and Its Pastoral Relevance, With Special Attention to Abused Youth.

    From my study of theology I have taken these words of St AnseIm as the summary of my experience: "Understand so that you may believe and believe so that you may understand." For me i it means that Faith and Reason go hand in hand any true and genuine religious experience should have them both at it foundation. This is valid at any moment of our journey of response to God's love for us in times of peace and in times of trials. Without faith our experience is a mere following of an ideology; and without reason we risk falling into fundamentalism. Wisdom literature in the scripture gives us a genuine way where faith and reason come together in Israel's experience of God's goodness. Some scholars however say that wisdom literature does not speak directly about God 2 or salvation history, but only deals with the life issues of people. In the first place, what is wisdom? 3 In the course of Israel's history, the true wisdom of God was believed to reside in the Law of Moses. Actually in Israel, law and wisdom were identified. The wisdom that originated in everyday life was transmitted orally and later on put into writing, 4 was valued by Israel at the same level as the Law of Moses. Wisdom literature was so influential that in the Psalter there are several psalms that have a strong wisdom character and we should not be surprised that in this context the law is often highly exalted. Through this thesis, I will attempt to answer some questions: what does it mean to taste and see the goodness of God? What is the faith and hope message of Psalm 34, that can be summarized in this statement of the psalmist: "Taste and See that the Lord is Good" (Ps 34: 8)? What did it mean in the historical context of the psalmist and for his community? To what extent can our present world address the issue of God's goodness to young people, especially those who are abused? In this work, as I attempt to answer the above questions, I do not promise to be very exhaustive in my approach, since the length cannot allow me.
