Living a consecrated life means consecrating oneself to God, making a solemn promise to live with the vows. The vows are a public commitment to remain open to the God of surprises who prepares all plans for the future and gives grace to the religious to live these vows. The vow of chastity is one of the important aspects in living the religious life. The consecrated persons are expected to remain chaste and celibate as followers of Christ who is the model of living this kind of life. In the Congregation of the Religious of the Assumption, their consecration gives so much value in the vow of chastity. It is in this context that the researcher finds it necessary to make a study of what vow of chastity is and how it should be lived particularly in the context of the Religious of the Assumption.en_US
