This research work was prompted by one main consideration that, it is not enough for teachers teaching any lesson to rely solely on the use of orthodox techniques and methods for motivating students in class. These methods and techniques are for the most part, very theoretical and besides, they are not absolute and are therefore, bound to be ineffective without considering the implications for their practical application. The techniques and methods for motivating students which are approved by principles and practice of education (and which, in this research work are referred to as orthodox), need to be complemented by some specific practical techniques and ideas. This research work is therefore putting forward one aspect of such practical techniques and ideas (DEVICES/SUGGESTIONS) which have been experimented and proved to be very effective and authentic. They will ultimately prove ideal for teachers who are suffering from setbacks brought about by too much reliance (or neglect) on the orthodox methods and techniques. The contention of this research is therefore that: when, in a given lesson, the orthodox theories and methods for students' motivation are applied interchangeably (or together) with the three practical devices suggested in this research work, the outcome of the two on students' motivation is superb.en_US
