Abstract
In this chapter. our objective is to locate the text under study in its context. We should bear in mind that the pericope under study, that is. Luk 1.1-20. though a unit of its own, as we are going to see later, it also serves as a general introduction to Two-Lucan volumes, namely the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. The pericope contains themes that are developed in both volumes of Luke. Hence, situating the text in its context will help us to avoid being scattered and losing the goal of our study. We shall establish the delimitation of the text according to various scholars by determining the terminus a quo and terminus ad quern of the pericope. We shall also peruse a textual criticism'. The Form and the Structure of the text will be followed by an overview of the parallel texts and the context of the pericope will be established. The context of the pericope v., ill include the immediate and remote contexts.
