Abstract

This work is divided into five rather small chapters. The first chapter deals with the presupposition of hope in African culture. In the second chapter I will examine the concept of hope in the biblical tradition, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. In the third chapter, I will show how the incarnation of Christ is the source of hope for the African Christians. As the climax of the Christ event is the paschal mystery, the fourth chapter will discuss the meaning of passion, death and resurrection of Christ to the African Christian. When people have the gift of hope in their hearts, this hope is communicated and shared. Therefore, the last chapter will discuss how Africans can be one another's hope in Africa today.
