The Church through Christian writers provides us with a wide understanding of Spiritual Direction. It sets before us the adequate tools of practicing Spiritual Direction so that we may be able to lead many Christians to a deeper relationship with the heavenly Father. The church emphasizes the importance of prayer life in Spiritual Direction. It is the key to foster the relationship with God. Praying in Spiritual Direction helps to deal with resistances and discernment on the paths of Christian life. The spiritual dialogue aims to bring down the directee, the spiritual son, into the depths of one’s heart, in order to see what is going on in one’s thoughts and inclinations. This first part will present a wide definition of the Spiritual direction and its practices following the teachings of the Church.en_US
