Abstract
This paper is about a comparative study of African celibacy and Christian celibacy
with reference to the Karanga people in 7imbabwe. The motivation or writing is to
gather values from A Irican and Christian celibacy that can help to stabilize the
tarnished Christian celibaci, with scandals. It seems as if traditional celibates were
more responsible than some Christian celibates. So, there is a need to address Me
problem. The aim of the work is to show how the African traditional celibates lived
and how the Christian celibates are lk lug and struggling. I will then give my
personal recommendation on how to impro \ e our celibate life loch) in /imbabwe.
The organization of the paper is in li\e chapters. The First chapter deals with the
history of celibac:, among the Karanga people This chapter is basically based on
interviews with people. The second chapter looks at celibacy in the scripture. Does
the scripture support celibac)? the third chapter explains what the mother Church
says about celibac . In the fourth chapter. I am going to tackle some problems the
Zimbabwean Church is lacing. The last chapter points out similarities and
differences between African celibac \ and Christian celibacy. It is in this chapter that
possible solutions are recommended on how to It\ c a celibate life faithfully Nis will
be closed with a general conclusion.
